The Wave Robotics Team has a short, yet powerful history.
April 2008
Triangle Manufacturing Co. and Oshkosh Corp. meet with Oshkosh School District administrators to discuss bringing FIRST to Oshkosh.
A story profiling the FIRST robotics program appears in The Oshkosh Northwestern.
May 2008
Fond du Lac team asks Oshkosh Corp. to see the Terramax vehicle. Oshkosh Corp. invites the Appleton and Fond du Lac teams to see Terramax. Both teams agree to come; the Appleton team brings its robot. The event becomes an introduction to the FIRST program.
Oshkosh Corp. invites members of the 8 Vex teams (competing internally, as part of an Explorer’s Post) to attend. Students from all Oshkosh high schools are invited to attend and learn more about the FIRST program.
June 2008
Appleton team comes to Oshkosh North High School to introduce students to the idea of FIRST. Thirty four students express interest.
Planners determine the need for classes for team members participants during the Fall semester. Courses from CAD to Web site design are scheduled.
July 2008
Planners address the Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education to tell them the story of FIRST and the desire to bring the program to Oshkosh.
The Oshkosh Northwestern runs a news article on the program.
August 2008
Planners introduce FIRST to students at Oshkosh West High School at the school’s orientation session.
Planners hold a kick-off for mentors and begin developing a schedule for the fall semester.
September 2008
A student kick-off/open house is held at Oshkosh West High School. More than 50 students attend to learn more about the FIRST program.
Students begin weekly meetings, learning about the FIRST program, the game and skills needed to compete.
The Oshkosh Northwestern runs an article on the team.
October 2008
Team members volunteer at a community event for EAA, a team sponsor. Students ‘scare’ visitors at the Haunted Hangar Halloween event.
November 2008
Planners visit classes at Oshkosh North High School to introduce students to FIRST.
Planners hold a ‘Lego League’ open house, to stimulate interest among students ages 9-14.
December 2008
Planners present to the Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education, outlining progress in forming and training a team. The presentation features testimonials from a parent, teacher, mentor and student.
January 2009
The team (parents, teachers, students, mentors) gather for the international kick-off Webcast and unveiling of the Lunacy game at EAA. During the 2-day kick-off, the rookie team brainstorms its game strategy.
Planners introduce incoming freshmen to FIRST, during an event for 8th graders at Oshkosh West High School.
Planners introduce Oshkosh North High School students to FIRST by spending a day visiting classes at the school.
February 2009
Team holds a community open house. More than 50 people attend to learn more about the FIRST program.
A student and mentor appear in a live interview on the “Eye on Oshkosh” cable program.
The team launches its blog on the newspaper’s Web site: www.thenorthwestern.com.

Wave Robotics attends Wisconsin Regional and wins Rookie All Star Award.
Team helps with Community Service Project 3-21-09 & 3-28-09 – cleanup and painting at the new Oshkosh Area Community Pantry & Sty . Vincent de Paul facility in the old Copp’s building on Jackson Street.
The Oshkosh Northwestern runs a follow-up article on the teams accomplishments at the Wisconsin Regional.
April 2009
Wave robotics attends Minnesota Regional and wins five awards: Rookie All Star, Xerox Creativity Award, Highest Rookie Seed Award, UL Industrial Safety Award, - Honorable Mention, and Regional Championship Winner.
The Oshkosh Corp. has a press release stating their sponsorship Wave Robotics.
NBC 26 (Green Bay) interviews a mentor and two students.
The team volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club to introduce Elementary and Middle School students to Robotics.
